This is an essay on themes for the book Inheritance, I'm not sure I used enough connections to the book, if I didn't please comment.
Eragon has come so far in the book Inheritance, with only one year of training this young dragon rider outsmarted Galbatorix and and changed the land of Alagasia forever. He has restored the peace within this land and discovered his true father, Brom. Eragon constantly battles Galbatorix's army and consistently advances, in Inheritance Eragon has the classic match up, the underdog, good vs. evil theme.
Christopher Paolini's Inheritance consists of many themes; Good verses evil, heroism, and many other minor themes, but consistently turns to good vs. evil throughout the entire book. As you might have guessed Eragon is the good person in Inheritance and Galbatorix is the diabolical King. With these two characters in play the whole book there was no way this couldn't have been a good vs. evil book.
Throughout Inheritance Eragon's number one goal was to overthrow Galbatorix, the ruler who has been enslaving the entire land. He is attempting to make himself indestructible, which he succeeded in doing for 286 years. He is going crazy with power, his power is coming from the Dragons souls. They are slaves forced to transfer power to him for the rest of their immortal lives. Throughout Alagasia Galbatorix has kept human slaves. As readers we obviously know this is wrong. Every organism should have a right to live their life.
Eragon and his Dragon Saphira constantly trained and battled, trying to find a way to overthrow his rule. Paolini consistently kept the desire of a better kingdom in Eragon's mind. He made it that when Eragon had his final battle with Galbatorix that you were sitting on the edge of your seat waiting anxiously reading to see how Eragon won. When Eragon overthrew Galbatorix I almost stood up cheering.
Christopher Paolini's Inheritance was a thrill racing book and is a great good vs. evil read. In Inheritance good vs. evil is used in the entire book and flows greatly in Eragon, he was the key to this book. Eragon overtook Galbatorix, restored Alagasia, and slew the most powerful man in the world, Galbatorix. Now the Land of Alagasia is free and the loyal Eragon has set them free.
